Snow Leopard Is Out: I don't Have It.

So unless you have been living under a rock for the past few months, or are a Windows user (same thing really....Just kidding guys), you would know that Apple has released their new OS, Mac OS X v. 10.6 "Snow Leopard". As both a tech geek and Apple enthusiast, I would normally have gotten it on opening day, but I didn't. That's a big deal for me.

Why didn't I get it on opening day? Simple answer, I didn't have the money. Most OS releases are over 100 dollars. OS X is usually $130 while Windows is roughly $200-$500 depending on the version. But Snow Leopard did something amazing, dropped the price to $30. Even I could afford that at any time. So why didn't I have the money? Another simple answer, I spent a lot of it on iTunes albums.....don't judge me, I love me some high quality, DRM free music with high quality album artwork.

I'm currently about $15 short, so I should be getting Snow Leopard in the coming weeks. There are three ways I am going to try to get the money. 1) Save my lunch money as usual. This is the most effective way, and what I usually do. 2) Put a PayPal donate widget on the blog. I don't want to do this, and I wont, I don't think asking for donations on the internet is good unless it for a cause besides your own personal needs. If someone wants to donate to someone out of their own choice, feel free, but I will not ask for donations. 3) Adsense. This is something I was planning on doing. I was going to put ads here on this blog and on a new site called Technobuffalo. Sure its a really tiny amount of money, almost nothing in fact, bot even a little is something. And the more people who read, the more it grows. Thing is, I need to be 18 do get Adsense, so I'll need to get my parents to get it for me, and that might be a whole mission in itself.

So I'm just going to stick with the first option. The Adsense will come in the future, but maybe not until Technobuffalo is out of beta and I join. Until then, lunch money will have to do. Now excuse me while I go apply for a writers position at a social blog. Thanks for reading, see you later.

First Day Of Junior Year

So, if you follow me on Twitter (@periahdark by the way), you would know that today was the start of the '09/'10 school year. How was my day? Well, truthfully, pretty good. I found out my schedule about a week before it was released (yay for geeky code finding), so I wasn't expecting much. To my surprise, it actually wasn't a complete, how can i say this?... "GET ME THE F*** OUT OF HERE!" day.

My school runs on a blocked schedule, so I only see 4 periods a day out of my 7. 1st period is everyday. The periods I had today were, 1) AP Spanish, 3) Integrated Science, 5) AP English, and 7) Web Design Level 2. Each period had its own experience, so let me just get started.

AP Spanish, as soon as I read the letters "AP", I instantly said "I am definitely switching out of this class." I never chose it to begin with. I later found out I cant switch out because I'm still missing my 2 Language credits, and AP Spanish is worth 2 credits. I had thought I was done with them...guess not. Anyway, the teacher? Not so bad. He's from Spain so he has that Spaniard accent, the one with the lisp. But overall he seems decent. The class? Will easily be one of the classes that I end up hating and not getting anything higher than a C grade. Plus, the AP exam, which is what gives you the college credits if passed (not the 2 language credits), I will most likely fail. I'm not a good test taker. Luckily, I have a couple of friends in that class, one of them happens to be a really cute girl, but that's a whole different story. Haha.

Next class, Integrated Science. At first, I didn't know what to expect. Never heard of the teacher. I've had hit and miss with science classes before. Earth and Space and Biology, good teachers, great classes. Chemistry, bad teacher, bad class. Physics, good teacher, bad class. So I was hoping this science class would be good. I got my wish, the teacher seems really cool, he's young, the younger teachers are always the best. He also makes it sound that the class will be fun. I've got a few friends there too, but wont be sitting near them until the teacher remembers our names (he currently has us in alphabetical order). This should take about two weeks or so.

Bell rings, 5th period, AP English. Another AP class, ugh... Not to worry though, the teacher is supposed to be a really good guy, know how to teach, and has fun. This class is filled with friends, I spent half of the class laughing with one of my friends, talking about The Office and some inside jokes. The teachers also seemed to recognize me from a show I do for school, and wants to see more. Cool. I have to do more whether I like it or not anyway.

Lunch time. I never go to lunch. Why? 3 reasons. 1) I like to hang out with the TV Pro teacher and the TV Pro crew, it's also our meeting time for ideas. 2) I like to keep my lunch money as its my only source of income. Haha. 3) I need to hide from the "Dean Of Discipline" (now the assistant principal). If your hair is too long, you get sent to indoor suspension. I like my hair long, but I don't think its long enough for CSI (what it is called in our school). But the DOD likes to be an ass. It's kind of a form of suppressing our right to freedom of expression in my opinion. Anyways, I headed off to the TV Pro room to chill with the teacher and my friend Jerry, part of the crew. We thought up some plans for the back room we are converting into a studio.

The day is almost over, 7th period, my best period so far. Web Design 2. The teacher is amazing, if it weren't for her, I probably would have never grown to love graphic and web design as much as I do now. We got moved to a new, cooler (as in temperature), room. We finally got what the teacher demanded for. Haha. New computers, more hard drive space, and of course, CS4, with Photoshop. For some reason we, didn't have Photoshop last year and had to substitute with Fireworks. We had a great time and stated our opinions on the new policies of the school. I won't go into much detail (yet). I'm just going to say that our school seems be getting closer and closer in similarities to Big Brother from George Orwell's book, 1984.

After 7th, we headed back to 1st (only happens on the first few days of school) and then headed home. It was raining so I decided to stay in TV Pro for a while. And there you have it, my first day of Junior year. Not a half bad day, but I have a feeling that my even number schedule wont be as good. But that's a different blog post. Thanks for reading, See you all later.
